About

Hi my name is Xavier and welcome to my Personal Finance blog! It’s 2020 and the world is going through some tough times. We’re facing a health and an economic crisis unlike we have ever seen before and many out there understandably are having trouble making ends meet.

When this epidemic started, and businesses began to lay off their employees I looked at my savings accounts and wondered if I would be able to make it through this tough stretch if I were laid off. I asked myself how I can not only financially support myself but also potentially my sister, who manages a mental illness, and my parents who were already on their way out of the work force. Thankfully I’ve saved some because I’m cheap but will it meet the pressure of a Latinx culture that sees everyone sticking together in the home and supporting the previous generation (#intergenerationalresponsibility)?

After working full time for 7 years I kept thinking I should have been a little more prepared than I was. I was late to the game really learning about Personal Finance but luckily I’ve had some great mentors these last couple of years. I started this blog because I want to impart some of that knowledge to my Latinx community who typically has nothing saved for retirement, for those trying to find their way in a financial system that doesn’t really suit them, and for those who have a similar family dynamic.
